ALYN Hospital

FBG FOCUS: Video Production

ALYN Hospital, Jerusalem, Israel, is a children’s hospital dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of children of all faiths, creeds, denominations, beliefs and economic situations. ALYN is a global leader in pediatric rehabilitation.

ALYN began life as a result of the polio epidemic in Israel in the 1940s and 1950s. As a result of the ensuing emergency situation, the Israeli Ministry of Health provided ALYN Hospital with a monastery belonging to the St. Simon Orthodox Church to be used as a hospital. Here, ALYN provided medical and educational help to approximately 200 children with polio. However, the monastery building was not well-suited for a developing rehabilitation center. In 1971, thanks to generous donations, the ALYN Woldenberg Family Hospital, a modern hospital and rehabilitation facility in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of Jerusalem, opened its doors.

ALYN is Israel’s premier rehabilitation center, providing rehabilitation to children and adolescents with disabilities. Since it’s humble beginnings as a polio clinic, the overriding mission of ALYN hospital has been to help each child reach the highest possible levels of mobility and independence.

The American Friends of ALYN Hospital is a transparent 501(c)(3) corporation. American Friends of ALYN Hospital increases awareness of ALYN’s life-changing work and raises funds to support it.
