Aetna was perceived to be an insurance giant that cared more about its bottom line than its customers.

For Aetna there was good news. There were positive stories that demonstrated the company did, indeed, provide support to customers. The object was to dramatize this view, make it warm and part of a family. After this 60-second commercial ran on the Academy Awards the sales force reported enormous positive response from prospects.
